Christmas 2019 is over and now it is time to reset and prepare for the New Year. This is the time where we get new planners, start filling them in with new goals, complete vision boards and set the tone for the upcoming year. However, this is also the time to start thinking about Christmas 2020. Yes, Christmas just passed but it will be here again and you will be out purchasing items for your holiday decor in no time. So, this is why it is important to start grabbing items now while they are on sale.

I start thinking about what changes I want to make to my decor for the next year well in advance. Once I have my colors and theme, I head to the stores to start stocking up on wrapping paper, ornaments, lights, pajamas, teacher gifts, etc. Here are a few tips to score your decor for less and be ready for the next season well in advance. Trust me once you find out how much money you can save you will start shopping at the end the of season for everything!

Before heading out I suggest you make a list of the stores you wish to visit first. I always make Homegoods, TJMAXX and Marshall’s my first stops because the good stuff is quick to go. Also, they take their time marking their seasonal items down lower than 50%. Meaning by the time the items go lower than 50% there is nothing left to pick from. Other stores on my list are Joann’s, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Target and Walmart. Now these store will go as low as 90% off so patience is key. However, if there is something that you know you really need or want buy it now to risk it selling out. That doesn’t mean stop there, keep going back to check for additional mark downs and if the item is still available purchase it at the lower price and return the one you brought earlier. I am also notorious for hiding items. I will put items in different departments behind other items and come back when the price hits the lowest it will go. I have been really lucky with this, but you do risk someone else finding it before you get back to purchase it. Depending on the store or the cashier you can try to come back for price adjustments. Most stores are anal about doing price adjustments for clearance, however, I have had some do it for me in the past. Instagram is one of the greatest tools to track clearance. There are so many people who post markdowns to different stores as well as when the next mark down is to take place. Turn on your notifications so you are ready to run when Target hits 90% off! Lol Make sure to go to several stores in a 30 mile radius. You will be shocked how some stores are completely stocked while others just have 2 rolls of wrapping paper. Last but not least, keep your receipts. I buy up so much stuff and take it home and see what I really want and then take back what I don’t. Again, I buy now to risk it being gone later. It is nothing worse than leaving an item, figuring out you want it and coming back and it’s gone. You can always return for up to 30 days.

Someone needed this. Someone spends way too much money on holiday decor, year after year. No more purchasing items at full price. We are saving money all 2020. I hope this helps and you are able to get some great deals while preparing for the next holiday season!
