This year, I decided to switch things up with our advent calendar. Instead of crafting my own like I usually do, I found a beautiful oversized cotton calendar that can be used and customized for years to come. The best part? I snagged it at an amazing price, most similar ones are $100 or more! I’ll link it here for those of you who might want to grab one, too.

Advent calendars are such a fun way to build excitement and create meaningful memories as we count down to Christmas. I love filling each pocket with a mix of surprises and activities that bring joy to our family. Here are some ideas for fillers that have been a hit in our home:
Advent Calendar Fillers and Ideas
1. Cookies & Milk Afternoon Snack: Add a festive cookies for a cozy afternoon break.
2. Popcorn for a Movie Marathon: Perfect for a family night with Christmas classics.
3. Ornament Light Necklace: A fun addition for our annual Christmas light ride.
4. Craft Supplies: For a day dedicated to creating something special. I added these wood trees for the littles to decorate and then they can add them to their room decor.
5. Pajamas & Brunch with Santa: A festive pair to wear to our friend’s annual Santa brunch!
6. Sweet Notes or Tags: I included little messages in some pockets and also tags to show what we have for that day.

Make It Your Own
One of my favorite things about this tradition is how personal it can be. Whether you decide to make your own calendar or purchase one like I did, the magic lies in the memories you’ll create together. And if you’re running a little late this year, don’t worry! Even if it’s December 5th or 10th, it’s never too late to jump in. Start small and add as you go.
Fill your calendar with sweet treats, simple joys, and activities to make the season special for your family. Let’s embrace the beauty of slowing down and celebrating little moments of joy each day.
What are your favorite advent calendar fillers or traditions? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear how you celebrate!
