Powder Room Refresh

When we brought our house over 3 years ago I had a laundry list of things I wanted to do. Home projects aren’t new to us and quarantine just gave us the time to revamp some more spaces. We recently did a powder room refresh. Although, this space wasn’t on my list of things to do this year, I’m glad we decided to give it go.

I woke up one day and decided I wanted to replace the mirror in my powder room. Initially Greg was totally against it. We already had so many projects in the works. However, I just needed a change in that space. I researched how to remove the mirror from the wall and started my prep work. We painted the bathroom when we first moved in but as I was taping the up the mirror for removal, I realized how much I hated the color. Then I looked at the lightening and knew that needed to go too. So, replacing the mirror was now a small reno project.

After the mirror was removed from the wall using a crowbar, Greg had to do some sanding as the mirror was attached with glue. The wall was primed and ready to get a fresh coat of paint! We decided on Sherwin Williams Greek Villa. I absolutely love how bright it made the room. Seeing the new paint job in action, made me want to make the vanity pop! So, we painted the vanity using Sherwin Williams Wilderness Trail and replaced the hardware to finish the look! *Before hand painting the vanity, we cleaned it with hot soapy water and wiped the wood down with liquid sandpaper.

Now that the painting was done it was time to hang our mirror. I was fortunate to get the mirror on a major markdown. When doing home projects I always try to find great deals and refurbish second hand items when I can. Finally it was time to hang our beautiful lightening that was sponsored by kichler lightening. This light fixture was exactly what we were looking for to bring the project together! I absolutely love the globes and color so much. It’s amazing how a fresh coat of paint, new hardware and new lightening can bring a space alive.

Although we are pretty satisfied with our project, we are not done. We will either do wallpaper or a sponge wall behind the mirror. I have to add accessories, wall decor and style the shelving. I cannot wait to show you the finished project. I hope you enjoyed what we did so far. Please stay tuned for part 2 of our powder room refresh!

Have you did any unexpected projects this year? I would love to hear about them. Drop a comment below.
