A weekend in Greensboro, NC: The Groome Inn

It’s just something about traveling to a place that I’ve never been that fills my soul with so much happiness. I remember just wanting to visit different countries, thinking that was the only way to experience the world. Never realizing that some of the most beautiful places are right here in our own backyards. I lived in Charlotte for 4 years and never had the chance to visit Greensboro or many of the other surrounding cities. I wish I took advantage of all of the beautiful places near by back then. However, Greg and I made the 4.5 hour trip from GA to Greensboro, NC to stay at The Groome Inn last weekend. Let me just say it was well worth the drive. If you are looking for a venue for your wedding or just a cozy get away I’ve found your place. This Inn holds so much southern charm and it’s just 1.5 hours from Charlotte and 30 minutes from Winston Salem.

Before arriving to The Groome Inn we did like any another trip, we jumped online and looked at pictures. However, as soon as we arrived we knew the pictures didn’t do this place any justice! I was so wowed at how beautiful the property was and trust me on our tour that’s all I kept saying. Although it is a wedding venue it is the perfect place for just about any event. In fact, they were having a gender reveal during our visit. I was excited learn they host a wine fest every last Friday of the month. That is definitely something I would love to go back for. After taking the tour of the 5 bedroom/7 bath, bed & breakfast we checked into the bridal suite and then headed out for dinner. We were so eager to enjoy every moment of our time at the INN that we decided to take our dinner to go.

I am usually all for exploration when we are vacationing but the inn was so cozy we decided to enjoy our time inside. There were bottles of wine and snacks all ready in the room for purchase. All we had to do is turn on the fireplace and pick which movie we wanted to watch. The jacuzzi tub was the perfect touch for our relaxing evening. I had every intention on spending sometime in the common sitting area but once we got in bed we were stuck. It honestly felt like our home away from home.

I always have plans to sleep in while I am away from my children but my body just doesn’t allow me to. Since I was up early I took the opportunity to walk around the property some more. I headed to one of the 2 coffee stations and made me the most delicious cup of coffee and continued to look around. The wrap around porch was one of my favorite things about the Inn. I made Greg promise to take me back when it gets warm so I can thoroughly enjoy the porch. I spent sometime in the library before heading to the kitchen where breakfast was being prepared. One of my favorite dishes, shrimp and grits was on the menu and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The chef @theintimatecook on Instagram seriously put her foot in this meal. She also offers meal prep services in Greensboro and surrounding areas. Greg was lucky enough to get some of her biscuits for the road. If you get a chance to go and visit Greensboro, NC be sure to make The Groome Inn your place to stay. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This was a sponsored trip but all opinions are my own.
